20th Minsk International Film Festival “Listopad” opened on November 1

The 20th Minsk International Film Festival LISTAPAD is the most important Film Forum in Belarus which will be held on November 1st-8th 2013.
The Festival presents the most outstanding films of the year which won awards at the most important international film festivals in Europe and the CIS countries.
Every year about 100 films are included in the Festival competition program. The films are divided into three sections: Feature Films, Documentary Films, Children and Youth Films.
The fate of the main awards is decided by the professional Jury panels, composed of leading cinema experts: Jury of Main Feature Films Competition, Jury of Competition “Youth on the March”, Jury of Main Documentary Films Competition, Jury of National Film Schools Competition, Jury of Children and Youth Films Competition “Listapadzik”, International Film Critics Jury. Audience Award is also given during the Festival.
In 2013 the Jury of the Festival will be headed by:
Jury of the Main Feature Films Competition — director Alexander Zeldovich (Russia)
Jury of the Feature Films Competition ‘’Youth on the March” — director Pierre Leon (France)
Jury of the Main Documentary Films Competition — director, camera man Yuri Goroulev (Belarus)
Jury of the 1st — 2nd Documentary Films Competition – National Film Schools Competition – director Boris Karadzhev (Russia)
Film Critics Jury – professor of Slavic and Film Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, Consultant for the Edinburgh Film Festival Nancy Condee (USA)
Jury of Children and Youth Films Competition “Listapadzik” - actress, director, producer Galina Daneliya (Russia)
A wide program of competition screenings will be held during the Festival: Belarusian, Russian, European and Asian panoramas will be shown. This year the retrospective of the famous French director Claire Denis, who will visit Minsk to present her creative work, will be included in the program.
In 2013 the movies from about 40 countries will take part in the festival, those from Belarus, Russia, France, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Croatia, Spain, Israel, Serbia, Georgia, Finland, Philippines, Thailand, China and other.
The latest movies of such notable Festival directors as Abdelatif Kechiche, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Corneliu Porumboiu, Ulrich Seidl, Paolo Sorrentino, Daniel Vega and Diego Vega, Thomas Vinterberg, Alex van Warmerdam, Jia Zhang-Ke, Rithy Panh, Paweł Pawlikowski, Marc Wiese will be shown in different sections. Retrospectives of Brillante Mendoza and Claire Denis will also be presented. Claire Denis, Brillante Mendoza, Kira Muratova, Daniel Vega and Diego Vega are among the honorary guests of the Listapad-2013.
Listapad 2013 will logically continue to popularize cinema in Belarus. The program of the Festival has already been completed and the films are united by the new Festival slogan “IN KINO VERITAS”.
